During our virtual workshops, I use innovation games for practices application and the groups are suppose to create things, like a child history for example.
At first people will have trouble, as they think: “I work with Technology or Process, I’m not a creative person”. But, I like to say that creativity doesn’t need to be considered a gift, as you are born with it or not. Creativity can be a process.
Let’s take as example Design Thinking, if anyone asks you for a client solution, you won’t be able to answer at first, but, after mapping your stakeholders and empathy with the personas, then you are able to see the pains and propose solutions, with your team.
That’s the thing, creativity needs to come from understanding the needs, you can’t creating a child history focusing on what to write. You need to do it thinking about what a child would like to hear or read.
When you put your client need in the center of the process, creativity is just a question of empathize, understand, brainstorm and connect ideas with your team. That’s where innovation comes from!
