Lessons learned are not about listing problems that happened during a project or reasons why it didn’t work. Lessons learned are about opportunities and finding then in your daily activities.

Every mistake is a chance to learn, and even if there were no mistakes, improvements can always be found in a procedure or process.

So, when documenting it at the end of a project and during the team work, always think of:

  1. Week points – what could go wrong;
  2. Threats – what went wrong;
  3. Strong points – what we can improve;
  4. What to keep doing.

It’s important to recognize errors and what can be improved, document and share. Most important, this knowledge needs to be applied to future work.

Successfully teams don’t make the same mistake twice, they repeat what works. Only when faults are admitted, success can be truly achieved and recognized.
