One of Agile practices that I believe are very interesting for organizing is time box.

Different from other practices, I started using it in my personal life, before taking it to work.

Sometimes you need to dedicate more time for a project, in work or in your personal life, but it’s good to find some balance after all.

With time boxing you can set the time you need to spend for each activity and, this way, have a better vision of your goals.

One example I take from life is organizing the time spent between working, studying, exercise and personal life.

For instance:

  • Work: 40 hours (8 hours/day);
  • Exercise: 30 min/day;
  • Studying: 1 hour/day;
  • Time to spend with my family or reading/TV: 2 hours/day;
  • Sleeping: 8 hours.

It may be silly, but I’m sure there is a lot of people that is missing sleep hours or exercising.

This can be used on work for daily activities or to organize the time spent with daily stand-up meetings, iterations planning and retrospective.
