When working on a big company, you may work on a team that is part local, part virtual.

It can bring challenges to team’s trust and collaboration, as individuals will tend to create subgroups between local and distributed resources.

For local resources, it’s easier to ask questions and share knowledge with people that is beside them. This will make resources working from other locations to be isolated, even more.

So, in a virtual team, distributed members need to find ways to be present. And due to distances or costs, local work may not be an option.

Therefore, these individuals need to look for tools that can facilitate their collaboration with other team member, as:

  • Video conferences for meetings and knowledge sharing;
  • Quick calls to address urgent questions.

Knowledge sharing can be done thru coaching, mentoring, trainings. Or even sending emails and participating on chats between all the team during the day.

And most importantly, be available to help when your coworkers need. Virtual work don’t need to be synonymous of isolated work.
